Euroopan neuvosto kysyy journalistien kokemista uhkista

Dear Journalist,

I am writing to you on behalf of the Department of Information Society, Council of Europe.

As a journalist operating within one of the Council of Europe member states, you have been selected as a potential respondent to the questionnaire for the ‘Journalists at Risk’ study.

The Council of Europe is committed to promoting the safety of journalists. To throw more light on the issue, the Information Society Department together with a number of specialised NGOs: the European Federation of Journalists, Index on Censorship, International News Safety Institute, Reporters without Borders and the Association of European Journalists, has launched a comprehensive quantitative study on unwarranted interference, fear of crime and self-censorship among journalists in Europe. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your valuable insights and opinions to one of the most important topics facing the journalism community. Completion of the questionnaire is anonymous. You will not be asked for your name and your identity will not be disclosed at anytime. You retain the right to quit the questionnaire at any point. You may also choose to refrain from answering any particular question although there are a few compulsory items at the start of the questionnaire that will enable us to make comparisons between different types and groups of journalists.

For any technical difficulties with answering the questionnaire please contact the key researcher on marilyn.clark@um.edu.mt

For any other matters please contact the COE secretariat on shahin.abbasov@coe.int

The questionnaire may be accessed on the following link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Journalist_English and takes about 8 to 10 minutes to complete. It is available in the following languages: English, French, Turkish, Russian and Serbian.

Patrick Penninckx

Head of Information Society Department, Council of Europe
