Council for Mass Media in Finland

The Council for Mass Media in Finland is concerned with self-regulation by publishers and journalists. Its task is to interpret good professional practice and defend the freedom of speech and publication.

CMM does not exercise legal jurisdiction. By affiliating themselves with the CMM, journalists and other personnel engaged in media have committed themselves to advancing and upholding the ethical principles of the profession.

The CMM has adopted the Guidelines for Journalists , which are the main code of conduct for the profession.

The UJF, media publisher’s associations and independent media companies that have affiliated to the Basic Agreement of the CMM are bound to adhere to its principles, which include upholding ethical standards within the profession.
