The UJF Council decided, 4 February, that the union Board can institute immediate industrial action if required by the situation at the talks concerning the collective agreements for the press and publishing sector.
Helsinki (26.01.2020 – Heikki Jokinen) A new series of industrial action is set to begin from Monday 27 January onwards. The Industrial Union and Trade Union Pro have announced strikes in the mechanical forestry industry and energy sector. The paper industry is also heading towards a strike.
The collective bargaining negotiations are on, affecting practically all UJF members who are in an employment relationship. The negotiations have turned out to be not only difficult but also uncommonly long.
All eyes are on the current round of collective bargaining negotiations, which are taking place across the media sector. Talks concerning the collective agreement for the press started 16 December. Those for the publishing industry start 20 December, while talks covering film and TV production started 5 December.
